Syphilis

How It Spreads

Syphilis spreads through sexual contact with sores during vaginal, anal, or oral sex. It can also pass from mother to baby during pregnancy or birth. Condoms help reduce risk.

What Happens in the Body

The infection starts with a small painless sore. If untreated, it spreads in the blood, causing rashes or fever, and can later harm the brain, heart, or organs. Early treatment cures it.

Living With/Managing

Syphilis is curable with antibiotics when found early. Regular testing and follow-ups protect you and partners. In Miami, confidential clinics provide care and support.
